BACKGROUND:   I bought and renovated this house in 2018. It was my “forever” home, but out of the blue, I had to move for my job. I can’t buy in my new city without selling here, but I’m also open to keeping this house as a vacation home for my family, while also renting it out on Airbnb.  

I was in the process of licensing it as an Airbnb property with the City of Tuscaloosa when coronavirus hit.  As a result, 4 weddings and 1 graduation party were cancelled, and we have also refused requests (of $4k and more) to book the house for football games. The near future is uncertain, but in the long run, this would make a great rental property (e.g., if you stayed in the Guest Apartment, renting the main house out during football games could pay your entire mortgage). The house can also be sold turnkey if you like.  

It’s been on and off the market.  We missed the always-hot spring market last year, because I was dead set on keeping the house back then. Then I found a couple properties that interested me in my new city. So it went on the market in June and got three offers over the next few months (the best one at $540k, right in line with the comps back then, for similarly sized lake houses with designated guest accommodations). Those deals all fell through. It went back on the market early this year and then coronavirus hit!  So, we took it off the market.
